These days more and more people are living in cities, and the trend is still going on. As a result, the space for recreational and leisure activities becomes smaller and smaller. Here representatives from different sectors such as urban and traffic planners, architects, sports and green space offices are required to make the available areas and spaces as physical activity friendly as possible. Possible sports and exercise opportunities could include multi-generational playgrounds, skate parks, soccer grounds but also traffic-calmed paved and non-paved paths and parking areas. A revival of the old "Trimmdich" paths with new equipment may help also to encourage the population to be more physical active. The goal of Cities for Sports is the exchange of information on how various stakeholders in a city can help by creating attractive and inviting spaces for physical activity opportunities.
