Pan-hellenic drawing competition for preschool children

Children drawing for sports - what do children associate with physical activity and sports? The Athens Municipal Crèches and Child Care Centres invite children to print for it.

The Athens Municipal Crèches and Child Care Centres has as a goal the continuous improvement of preschool education. One aim is also the propagation of the necessity for daily physical activity and the promotion of the health of the children of the Child Care Centres.

After the Chairman, Mrs Hera Valsamaki, and the Board of Directors’ decision, the Athens Municipal Crèches and Child Care Centers organizes a:

FOR PRESCHOOL CHILDREN

TOPIC: “Children Drawing for Sports”

The drawing competition addresses children who are accommodated in the child care centers of all the country, aged 3-5 years of age.

The goal of the competition is the propagation of the necessity for daily exercise and a healthy lifestyle to preschool children.

The educators, after sensitizing and informing the children regarding physical activity, Olympic education, sports, healthy diet, will encourage them to create a poster entitled “Children Drawing for Sports”.

GUIDELINES FOR EDUCATORS

Every child will create an individual poster.

  • The poster should be in A3 white cardboard (29,7 x 42 cm).
  • The drawings should be coloured.
  • Materials to be used: markers, crayons, finger colours, water colours or any other material or brushwork they wish to.

On the poster there should appear:

  • The title (at the front of the poster)
  • The name and the address of the Child Care Center as well as the child’s name and surname (at the back of the poster)

The works of the children should be posted to the offices of the Athens Municipal Crèches and Child Care Centres, to the Division of Educational Programmes (26 Avlonos St. & Amvrakias St., 3rd floor, 10443, Athens).

Submission Deadline: from Wednesday, 27th October 2010 to 26th November 2010.

All the participating Child Care Centres as well as every child separately will receive a commendation for participating as a reward for their effort. The most representative works of arts will be awarded a prize by a special committee, which will comprise personalities from the field of sports, arts, science and letters during a special ceremony.

The participating child care centres will also comprise the pan-hellenic school network for the propagation and protection of the children’s rights for daily exercise and a healthy lifestyle.
